Aang was an Air Nomad born in BG 12 and Avatar during the Hundred Year War, succeeding Avatar Roku and predating Avatar Korra.

He was the only person capable of using all four wielding arts: air wielding, water wielding, earth wielding, and fire wielding.

He was also one of a select few Avatars and one of the first in many cycles to learn the ancient art of energy manipulation.

Shortly before the Hundred Year War began, Aang was frozen in an iceberg for one hundred years.

He later surfaced, still biologically twelve years old, in a world engulfed in war.
