Touhou Spell Carnival is an officially recognized derivative work based on the Touhou project.

Gensokyo - A land cut off from the outside world, where humans and youkai live side by side.

One day, Hakurei Shrine shrine maiden Reimu Hakurei notices mysterious pillars towering over various places in Gensokyo.

These pillars signaled the start of the Spell Carnival, a festival hosted by Yukari Yakumo where they must bring their spell cards into play in battle.

To investigate the true intentions of Yukari Yakumo, who so suddenly initiated the Spell Carnival, Reimu Hakurei joins the battle for the Spell Books.
