In Disney's Sleeping Beauty, cursed by Maleficent, little princess Aurora is renamed Briar Rose and hidden in the woods until she turns 16.

Her guardians, the good fairies Flora, Fauna and Merryweather, are horrified when Rose is lured by Maleficent into touching the spindle of a spinning wheel, causing her to fall into a deep sleep.

Prince Philip fights the fiery Maleficent to save her and, with the help of the good fairies, wins. He finds Aurora and manages to wake her up with true love.
