Ganryu 2 is the sequel to Ganryu game made by VISCO on NEOGEO in 1999.

The universe takes place in a fantasy feudal Japan, which is heavily inspired by the story of Takezo Musashi, whose adventures are unfolded in a series of books.

You play as Miyamoto Musashi traveling through a fantasy 17th century Japan from north to south to the island of Ganryu-Jima, where it all began between Musashi and Kojiro.



After his victory against Kojiro, Musashi decided to meditate and try his luck in art in northern Japan, in the Hokkaido province.

During one of his meditations, a spirit contacted him: "Miyamoto Musashi, our fight is not over, I expect you to end our fight once and for all!".

To Musashi there was no doubt that the voice was that of Sasaki Kojirō.
