After an earthquake in the city of Angel Grove, a group of five young friends find a robot named Alpha 5, which leads them to meet the galactic mage Zordon.

Chosen by Zordon to face evil in the form of the witch Rita Repulsa, they were each given a Power Morpher.

Zack Taylor, the Black Ranger, the group's second-in-command, is playful and upbeat and is the one who lifts the spirits and gives strength to the group in their most difficult moments.

He is symbolized by the Mastodon, depicted in his black and white costume, and poses with his ax ready for action.
