Homer Jay Simpson is the protagonist of the animated television series The Simpsons.

He is a cruel, ignorant and mean individual, although he is essentially a good person and shows great care and loyalty.

Homer works as a low-level safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant in Sector 7G, although he is often incompetent and careless in his duties.

He spends much of his time at Moe's Tavern with his friends Barney Gumble, Carl Carlson, Lenny Leonard and Moe Szyslak.
