Rain... the eternal, never-ending rain. In Piova, the city of music and endless rain, young men and women gather to follow their dream of becoming musicians.

Chris Vertin is one of these young people, leaving behind his rural hometown and his girlfriend to enroll at the Municipal School of Music in Piova.

Winter has come and over two years have passed since Chris began studying to become a Fortenist, a master of the magical instrument known as the Fortelle.



Graduation is just a few months away, and Chris has to perform an original song with a vocal partner for his final exam.

But Chris, who feels unmotivated and spends his days lazing around, hasn't even tried to find a partner.

His whole world consists of the letters he receives from his girlfriend and a 14cm tall musical fairy who lives in his room.
