Tōshirō Hitsugaya is the captain of Gotei 13th Division 10. His lieutenant is Rangiku Matsumoto. He previously served as the 3rd Chair of the 10th Division under Isshin Shiba.

Hitsugaya is short with turquoise eyes and short, spiky white hair that tends to attract attention in the Human World.

He wears a standard sleeveless captain's haori with a green scarf around his shoulders held together by a round, star-shaped clip.

The strap holds the Zanpakutō sheath in place on the back and is tied to it at each end.
