To make a living, he sells charcoal in a nearby village, one evening when he was supposed to go home, a villager advises him to stay the night because demons are roaming around.

The next day, his life is turned upside down when he arrives home to find his entire family, except for his younger sister, eliminated by the demon king, Muzan Kibutsuji.

Tanjiro then embarks on a long journey and joins the Demon Hunter Army (Kisatsutai) to hunt down demons and avenge his family.

Tanjiro Kamado does everything in his power to find a cure to turn his sister Nezuko Kamado back into a human.
