Annie and Clarabel show a kind and caring side to everyone on the railroad. However, despite their kindness and sweetness, they can be stern when needed.

They are best friends, but like all friends, they sometimes argue. Despite this, they always try to make things right in the end.

Annie and Clarabel are respectful of all engines, but especially Gordon and Thomas. For example, they scolded Thomas for teasing Gordon after his accident.
